How to Choose the Right Foundation for Your Skin Type and Tone
When it comes to foundation, finding the right shade is often easier said than done. With so many different foundation options available, where do you begin? This week in the blog, we are breaking down how to find your PÜR-fect foundation by matching your undertone, skin type, and more!
How to Find Your Undertone
Your skin's undertone is the color beneath the surface of your skin and is the key to helping your foundation look flawless. There are three different undertone categories—cool, neutral, and warm. You can find your undertone by looking at the veins on your forearm. If your veins have a green tint, you most likely have warm undertones. If your veins have a purple tint, you most likely have cool undertones. If they appear to be a little green and a little purple, you most likely have neutral undertones.
How to Find Your Finish
Choosing between a powder, liquid, or tinted moisturizer depends on your skin type! If you have oily skin, using a powder foundation such as 4-in-1 Pressed Mineral Makeup Broad Spectrum SPF 15 will help give your skin a matte finish with buildable coverage. If you have dry skin, using a tinted moisturizer such as 4-in-1 Tinted Moisturizer Broad Spectrum SPF 20 will help give your skin a dewy, hydrated finish. If your skin is somewhere in the middle, choosing a longwear foundation with buildable coverage, such as Love Your Selfie Longwear Foundation & Concealer, will help give your skin a natural-looking finish.

How to Fix Your Foundation if You Have the Wrong Shade
If you accidentally purchased the wrong shade of foundation, we can help! We recommend these tips for helping to balance the look of your foundation:
- If your foundation is too dark, you can dilute it with a creamy primer or moisturizer such as 4-in-1 Correcting Primer Prep & Perfect or 4-in-1 Cloud Cream Gel-to-Water Hydrating Essence Moisturizer to sheer out the foundation.
- If your foundation is too light, try mixing it with a bronzing liquid, such as our No Filter Primer Blurring Photography Primer in the shade Bronze Glow to help darken the shade. If you don’t have a bronzy primer on hand, you can apply the foundation only on the highlights of the face, such as the cheekbones, forehead, nose, and chin.
